Classic Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are the best! A few years ago it became a tradition to have friends over on a Saturday afternoon to help me decorate batches of them. Lots of frosting, colored sugar, and sprinkles and it's an adult cookie coloring party. It may be the holiday sangria but I think they come for the cookies.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Notes:

Make sure the butter is completely soft before creaming with sugar. This will ensure the cookies are soft.

Leave space between each ball of dough. The cookies will spread.

Sugar cookies are versatile. Have fun with them. Sprinkle with colored decorator sugar or frost them, and decorate.
